Sometimes, things don’t always work out as you had planned. Like how we were going to get keys to our house on Saturday, and then take a week to clean, move, and get settled before we actually slept in the new house. But, something kicked our butts into gear so much so that I really shouldn’t even be writing this blog post. I should be throwing everything I own into boxes.
The highs finally hit 100 this week. Have I ever mentioned how I cannot stand super hot weather?
To make matters worse, our Landlords are convinced our A/C works just fine (second summer in a row), despite the fact that last night it was 79 degrees in our house when we went to bed. We are not people that tolerate heat well. And by well, I mean, like at all.
I don’t know, but ever since I had kids I am ALWAYS hot. If I ever utter the words, “I’m cold” then it is usually REALLY cold. I wear flip flops year round unless there is snow on the ground. So, going to sleep inside my house that is “supposedly” air conditioned at 79 degrees puts me in a really really bad mood. And, I’ve already told you all how my husband wears shorts year round. So, he is the same way.
Needless to say there was not much sleeping going on last night. The heat makes me want to act very irrational and do things like get revenge be a not very nice person.
I could write a really long post about my landlords that have been awesome for 3 years that is until LAST summer when they called the a/c guys out 5 times and it never truly got fixed. And, this summer when it started to heat up, they had to call someone again who came out at least 3 times and “fixed” it. Now, I swear they continue to give lame excuses like, “Well close all your shades” and “the windows just need to get replaced” and “it’s just abnormally hot”. Umm. No. Actually, you are in denial that you really need to replace this a/c.
This is what bugs me about Landlords. I want to say, “Would you let your babies sleep in a house that is almost 80 degrees?” I don’t think so. Can I say how happy I am that we are moving?
So, despite the fact that they have been pretty great in all other areas over the past 3 years, they are now my new enemy. Or, my a/c is my new enemy. I’m not sure, the heat is really getting to me. It’s making it too hard to think straight.
They are planning on raising the rent $500 dollars when we move out. I can’t wait until the new renters sleep in 80 degree temps at that price. I know I wouldn’t.
So, super long story made super short? My husband said to me, “We might have to go ahead and move this weekend instead of taking the whole week.” Nothing like those words to kick my butt into gear.
Now, I have to go pack.
Am I being unreasonable? Don’t you think 79 degrees is a little too hot for sleep?
Ridiculous. That is NOT air conditioning. I would be pissed like crazy!
It doesn’t even get 79 here during the day. I remember losing air conditioning in our apartment there in good old Utah and I had to have bowl of cold water and a fan and that still didn’t work. I was miserable.
I loathe being hot especially when I’m trying to go to sleep. I don’t blame you for your new enemy. 79 is way too hot for sleep. That’s just too hot in general.
After I googled up the temperature conversion, this made me laugh!
79 is what we set our air con to in summer. Monkey and I slept in 86 degrees (with a ceiling fan) this summer. It occasionally reaches 115 outside (but we try not to go out in it!)
I’m no good with cold though. If it gets under about 68 in the house I’ll be wearing leggings under my jeans!
Haha! Too funny. And I wear flip flops when it’s 40 degrees outside! Sometimes colder if its not snowing. 🙂
Good luck! We have hot weather only about a month or two out of the summer in Minnesota, so we try not to complain, but I hear you! Enough is enough! Good luck with the move. So happy you found a place of your own.
Yes. Way too hot. Yuck!
I don’t handle heat well, either. Which is loads of fun considering our current locale. That being said, we typically keep our AC at 78 in the summer but have all our ceiling fans and a box fan running. And I refuse to turn on the oven, which makes dinner fun. I’d love to keep it lower but the power company raises our rates in the summer and our electric bill could feed a village for years.
That is too hot! We’re in Texas and can get ours down to 68-70 at night and it runs on 76 all day.
