If you are here reading my blog, you should know that I occasionally make money blogging here.

Awesome isn’t?

Before you get too crazy though thinking I’m making millions at your expense, let me explain a couple of things. The best part about blogging, is that the reader can continue on with his or her normal life, and you are unaffected by whatever small compensation I might receive. (seriously. It’s small.)

There are FTC guidelines though that require that I let you know that I do make money blogging, and how I do it. Feel free to check those out if you like reading boring legal stuff.

But, the best part of this deal is that I work for you in a way. When I do, on occasion, write a sponsored post, it’s because it’s a product that I actually did love, or thought I would love when I agreed to do it. And, I thought you might love it too. The third party supplying compensation to me is fitting the bill and it doesn’t cost you anything! Pretty cool isn’t it? Plus, you get to hear about new products that maybe you’ve never heard of before (and sometimes win stuff too!)

I will always be 100% honest with you. That’s important to me. So here are some things you should know about my blog and my work with affiliates and sponsors:

  1. I am an amazon affiliate. Perfectionpending.net (me) is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. Occasionally, I might use Amazon affiliate links that will give me a small percentage of what you buy. But, it doesn’t affect your bottom line price either.
  2. I occasionally do product reviews. When it comes to product reviews, I try really hard to be choosy. For one, I don’t do a review just to get free stuff. I want my reviews to be things that I’m excited about, and more importantly, things I think my readers will be excited about. I will pick and choose product reviews sparingly, but just know, I’m reviewing something in the hopes that you’ll love it as much as I do. Sometimes I am compensated for these reviews and sometimes I receive free product as compensation.
  3. I have ads on my blog. I personally am not too bothered by ads on blogs I read, because I know that blogging takes a lot of time. I will try hard not to get too spammy with my ads or have too many pop ups. THAT is annoying. I try to keep my ads simple, out of the way, and not too annoying. It’s just another way I can make money and justify to my husband why I spend so much time on the computer writing.

Here’s some more boring stuff  Google wants me to tell you:

Third party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to my website.

  • Google’s use of the DART cookie enables it and its partners to serve ads to my users based on their visit to my site and/or other sites on the Internet.
  • Users may opt out of the use of the DART cookie by visiting the advertising opt-out page. (You can opt out of a third-party vendor’s use of cookies by visiting the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page.)

Bloggers provide a lot of things for free to the readers. Advice, inspiration, laughs, recipes, free printables, etc. Most bloggers will tell you that they LOVE what they do (I know I do) but it’s a time consuming and sometimes expensive thing to run a blog. That’s why it helps us a lot when we are supported financially on occasion.

NEW ---> "When there are problems in these big kid NEW ---> "When there are problems in these big kid years, it’s no longer really acceptable to call a friend and air the annoyances of the situation. At least not the specifics.

Sure, you can commiserate with a fellow parent about teenagers being the worst.

But, to be honest - they’re not the worst. They’re kind of amazing. But their problems make me tired to my core."

"I don’t know about you, but I don’t really wa "I don’t know about you, but I don’t really want same-ness anymore. I want messy. I want admissions that shit is hard and we don’t have it all together. I want to have a makeup free, messy bun in my sweats run in with a mom friend and not feel worried she’s checking out my un-groomed eyebrows.

I don’t want to try to give off this illusion that I’m control of my life any better than the next person. It’s a shitshow for all of us, and we continue to hide it for fear of what? Being human?"

WHAT IF THIS IS THE HAPPIEST I’LL EVER BE AND I WHAT IF THIS IS THE HAPPIEST I’LL EVER BE AND I MISS IT? What if I miss the best time of my life. What if it’s right this second?
What if it’s right now while I’m in finals week of grad school, and have a kid that’s sick?
I already miss so much. The gummy smiles of babes without any teeth. The squeaky voices of 2 year olds. The babbling of a baby that’s just trying so hard to say mama. The grammar mistakes my kids make when they’re talking that I don’t have the heart to correct because I love it too much.

I miss a lot about those younger years that have already slipped away. My youngest is sick, much like in this picture, but he is too big to snuggle in my arms now when he’s running a fever.

Today I had the thought, what if this is it? What if this IS the happiest I’ll ever be?
For a moment, I lingered in that thought as I stood over my sink and did the dishes. I started to cry.
Am I missing it? AM I? I felt a tug that maybe I was. Maybe I wasn’t relishing enough, and enjoying enough, and being present enough.
But, then I realized, it will never be ENOUGH.

Look, I’ve never been a half glass full kind of gal. I can ALWAYS find the negative in every situation.

But, right now it’s easy to say that I’m over it. It being.....

The state of our economy. Social media. People being unemployed. People being racist and homophobic. The debate over politics. People judging people. ALLLLLL of it.

Everything is crap right now. We joke about it a lot. We have to in order to survive.

It’s the one millionth day of January but Spring feels so far away.

I’m over these four damn walls that we call home.

Yeah, I know. Even as I’m typing this it all sounds like a bunch of ungrateful whiney BS. I hear it. I don’t need you to point it out, Karen.

But, my guess is you’re reading this right now and realizing you’re over it too. Whatever “it” is in your life.

Some days the world feels like total crap. Everything is a mess. Everything costs too much. For E-V-E-R-Y-B-O-D-Y.

Do you feel like you lost yourself in motherhood? How? I really want to know.

Psss - I am in grad school to become a therapist, and am not ashamed to ask that you subscribe to my paid substack. I just lowered the cost to $36/year! Do you struggle with perfectionism? Parenthood has helped me quite a bit, but It's something I've battled my whole life. I still struggle occasionally, although it's gotten better. But, let's stop trying to avoid being human and instead embrace ourselves an in turn embrace the entire human race. ❤️ I'd love to hear how you embrace being imperfect.
