I have one friend that actually requests my blogging. Bless her heart. She was at my house this morning, and said she wanted to make sure she helped clean up so that I would have time for a blog today. She knows how to flatter me! In fact, I did not even think I would post anything today. And, after she said that, I thought, “Well, geez. I have to now”. And, life has a way of working out. You know, giving you something to blog about when you think you have absolutely nothing to say.
Today, my subject is my air-headedness.
This morning, I was determined to get an early start. Luckily my boys woke up at 6 am, so that wasn’t a problem, but then I fell back asleep and they REALLY woke me up at 6:45 am. I wasn’t ready to greet the world with sunshine, so I decided instead I would take advantage and go to the grocery store without the three kids. Now, every single time I’ve tried to do this, I’ve forgotten something. Every. Single. Time. So, not once has it worked out to my advantage, really. Because I always end up back there at some point during the day later on. With my three kids.
Well, this morning, I made a list first. Always helps right? Then, I got everything on that list and remembered a few other things while I was chanting to myself, “Don’t forget the chocolate. Don’t forget the chocolate. Don’t forget the chocolate.” Obviously, forgetting the chocolate would have been the end of the world devastating. So, guess what? I didn’t forget the chocolate!! Hooray!
Now, if you are thinking to yourself, “Does this girl not have anything better to blog about than her failed attempts at grocery shopping?”, the answer is, not really. Or maybe you’re thinking, “I’ve heard this before.” You have. I’m sorry. But, scenarios like this one are what get me thinking about what I could blog about. Because really, sometimes it’s the most interesting/entertaining thing during my day. Forgetting something at the grocery store is a HUGE deal when you actually get to go by yourself. And since going to the grocery store can literally take up an entire morning when you have three kids, I know those of you that have young kids, will understand. To you child-less peeps that read this blog? I’m really surprised you’re still here. But, I hope you’ll stay despite this blog post.
But, here’s the kicker.
At 1pm after my friend left, and I was ready to put the baby to bed, I could not find his pacifier ANYWHERE. Yes, we only have one when really we should have at least 7, and it was gone. I told the kids it was an emergency and they all had to stop what they were doing. Chandler told me where it was. He said, “eh eh eh?” Thanks, buddy. We searched for a good 20 minutes, and then I thought, might as well go to the store and buy myself some more so he will take a good long nap. We did. And, we came home. And then at 2pm, I finally got to make myself some lunch, and the blood sugar levels were incredibly low at that point, and I went to pull out the deli meat to make my sandwich, and that’s when I realized I had forgotten it. Yep, and I had just left the store for the second time that day.
As I was composing this blog in my head, I thought, “No one wants to read this! Do they really care about how I can NEVER seem to get it together and have a successful trip to the grocery store? This is like an annoying FB status.” So, then I created this eCard. You’re welcome.
Hope everyone has a great weekend with minimal trips to the grocery store with their kids. At least that’s my high hope for the weekend. You really can never dream too big.
Interesting read! And definitely not an annoying fb status, yours actually has substance =)
Woo hoo!! A special blog just for me!! Thank you!!! But I feel bad…I don’t want to pressure you to write! Honestly, you could write about how you watched paint dry and I would be so fascinated.
You are too nice. 🙂 And probably the only one that feels that way.
A friend of mine I didn’t know read my blog texted me a couple of weeks ago when I was sort of on hiatus telling me to get back to blogging because he had nothing to read while he was pooping! We really do serve a purpose!
hahahaha! Hilarious. Congrats on being FP’d today. You deserve it. I think you’re back in your groove again.
This is is like a long annoying facebook post. 😉
Whatever. You’re an awesome writer and can spin the most boring crap into gold. Like those people who make potato sacks look sexy (whom I hate) you do that with blogging. Except for I don’t hate you. I want to visit you and eat lunch and possibly talk about the magical underwear. 😉
hahahaha!! OH MY GOSH. Come visit. And, we can talk about underwear if you want.
I’m sorry I’m sorry I’m sorry.
One trip to the store is enough, let alone a trip with kiddos, let alone TWO trips with kiddos.
If those grocery aisles could talk. Next week is another battle!
Congrats on your ecard. And I found this story interesting even though I had already heard it on the phone. That should tell you something. 😉
Man, grocery shopping is your nemesis, isn’t it? 😉
Truly.
I so get it. One of my first posts. http://scottishmomus.wordpress.com/2013/06/13/supermarket-thoughts/
And it never ends.:) x
Love the e-card! That’s awesome!
thank you. I’m kind of obsessed with those things and think I’m way funnier than I really am. 🙂
I found it hilarious because I refuse to even subscribe to Facebook. I find it pretty brainless compared to blogging. The sad part is, I have family members who are so mired in the Facebook culture that one has basically said that’s how he talks to people and if I want to converse with him, I need to sign up for Facebook. It’s very sad that communication is being reduced to that.
YES! I was feeling very put off by FB myself lately, and approached some people about removing them because so many things I posted were being misunderstood. They felt it was a slap in the face and that I didn’t want to have a relationship in real life because of that. I thought, “WHAT????” Weird.
I always forget the chocolate. Haha, hope you have a great weekend despite the grocery shopping!
You actually have people that look forward to your blog? That must be so nice.
Oh whatever mr. 1200 followers or something!
I don’t have not one follower in China, India or Japan. I’m like 6 and half billion followers short of the entire world.
We have a gazillion pacifiers, but only one that he actually likes. You know, in case it helps to have me validate your choices and my OWN air-headedness, lol.
Just as a note, even those of us without kids forget things at the store! I’ve written many lists and still come home having forgotten something! Luckily, I have a husband who actually loves to get out and go to the store for me. Glad you remembered the chocolate though, extremely important!
Ha! Good to know! Lucky for you your husband likes that! Mine? Not so much. 🙂
