Science Says Your Curves Might Be Making Your Husband Happier

It’s no secret I’ve struggled with my weight since college. It’s in my genes to be chubby. And, thank goodness I’ve found a man that seems to not worry too much about my weight. Even though, he’s always challenging me to eat Kale and be healthier, he still thinks I’m sexy and my thighs will forever be grateful for that. Because I don’t imagine that eating kale is going to ever make me a size 2.

But, a new study has proven that my husband should actually be thanking me for that cute little muffin top. The Study is out of Argentina and says that Men Who Marry Chubby Women are Happier.

While I haven’t actually been able to find the results of the actual “study” but rather the link above is to another article claiming these facts in Spanish, I’m going to own it. Because Snopes says that it hasn’t been unproven yet either. So, let’s embrace this finding for now, and be happy that it’s OK to have a little extra to love.

On our wedding day in 2002.

When I first saw the headline, I turned to my husband, showed it to him and simply said, “You’re welcome.” He laughed of course, because if not he knows I’d probably threaten to punch him.

But, part of me can’t help but think that this probably applies mostly to women who are confident in their “chubbiness” or extra weight, or whatever you want to call it. That’s something I struggle with honestly. But, confidence IS sexy.

So I say work on trying to love your body right where you’re at. It’s hard. I’m not there yet. But, my guess is that if we can get there, not only will it make US happier, but it will make our spouses happy too. A happy confident woman makes a great partner.

Not only that, a woman who isn’t hungry is usually happier than one who is.

The saying, there is more to love must be true, because we’re still making it work after 15 years of marriage. And while I can’t say that I deserve all the credit for the happy times in our marriage, I’d like to think that the chocolate I (might) consume after the kids go to bed will actually make him happier in the long run.

On our 15th wedding anniversary

They say food is the way to a man’s heart…I’m just glad I get to be the one to eat it.
