Remember my post from the other day about Letting Kids Be Kids? Well, my kids were watching Mary Poppins for the first time today and you know the part where the Chimney Sweeps are all on the roof dancing around….well, my daughter said, “Mommy, they’re doing dangerous things.” We laughed. Maybe I tell them to “be careful” a little too much. Well, that is if multiple times a day is too much? Another thing to add to that list. Maybe I shouldn’t say be careful so much? I mean, I wouldn’t let them play on the roof, but you know what I mean. If they have a few couch cushions that they are jumping on and they might fall off just 10 inches from the ground, it isn’t going to kill them. But this might:
*on a side note, I wish my basement was cuter and cozier
The funny thing about these photos to me is that as I was typing above paragraph I looked over and they were doing that. Speaking of dangerous things. Instead of telling them to be careful though, I took a picture. Is that good or bad parenting? I’m not sure. Who cares. They are alive right?
I read this blog post today. I just stumbled across it. It’s all about Mommy guilt, which I am very good at. I think this is a good new year’s resolution to have. Saying screw you to that mommy guilt voice in our heads. I’m going to try it.
