For some reason, my kids like to eat stuff that they can build on their own. Making their own pizzas are a hit, and so is taco night (which incidentally is tonight). So, that’s why I love this recipe too. Everything is in little bowls, and kids like to build stuff.
Pretty much anything goes, but here are the main ingredients:
Slow-Cooker Hawaiian Haystacks

For this recipe, I always cook my rice in the microwave while I chop up the toppings. Here’s how I do it: Place 1 and 3/4 cup of uncooked rice in a microwave safe dish with lid, add 3 1/2 cups of water. Cover. Cook on high for 5 minutes, then 50% for 15 minutes or until done. Enjoy!!
This sounds delicious! I have a two year old that won’t eat anything. I think I’ll give this build-your-own thing a try. Thank you for the idea!
You’re welcome!! Hope it works. I know how picky two year olds are. 😉 (did you see my last post?)
Yum, thanks for sharing…and I love the simple method of the chicken and then adding anything. I will do this all the time now! I pinned it 😉
Great! Hope you like it. 🙂
Another mom of a picky eater. Maybe he’ll try this…. at the very least the rest of us will and he can smell some more great food!
ha! You know what I did recently? I let my 2 year old lick it before eating. It’s an experiment we’re trying out. So far it’s working….he licks it, and then he is more willing to actually put it in his mouth and try it!
What a great idea! I wish I was making that for dinner tonight- I have no idea what to cook and would’ve loved a slow cooker recipe. We are always looking for more- thanks for this!
You’re welcome! Hope it turns out good. My 2yo ate the chinese noodles and the cheese. So, that’s a score, right? 😉
Found you via the SITS Shave your FAv Post linky…this recipe sounds easy & perfect. I have a picky 7yo plus a 15yo & a 42yo…all pitas when it comes to eating…thanks for the great crockpot recipe!!! Love my crockpot & love new recipes.
We had this last night & it came out great. My husband, who usually hates slow cooker meals liked it & that’s saying a lot.
That’s awesome!! Glad you liked it. 🙂
We just made these for dinner last night! So yummy! My toddler made a beautiful haystack. Then she ate only a handful of Lo Mein noodles and two miraculous bites of chicken. Because, duh- Eat Something. 😉 Thanks for a great idea!
You’re welcome! Glad you liked it. At least she ate something!
I love this idea, and it looks so tasty! Thanks for linking up with the Bloggers Brags Pinterest Party. I have pinned your post to the Bloggers Brags Pinterest Board!
